Tabitha’s bio
As a youngster, Tabitha’s musicality was expressed in learning classical guitar, but when she heard electric guitar and bass, classical went out the window! Sound familiar? Having thus diverged from the straight and narrow, she then made a sharp left turn, playing guitar in punk band Squashed Cockroach. 1980s punk: spikey hair, safety pins, bovver boots and dog collars.
In the ’90s, Tabitha played in the band Latvian Gearbox Overdrive with her husband and fellow Wrack & Ruin member Andy Zarins. Here she was free to express her exuberance and innate theatricality in pop-rock and cabaret show-stoppers. Somewhere along the line there was another diversion – with the organ – then finally came a love affair with the tenor saxophone (her’s is named Stanislav.) … perfect for Phil Moriarty’s Wrack & Ruin with and its obsession with Northern Soul Doo Wop and ’60s girl groups.
Alongside her musical adventures (and yes, she has been to Eurovision!), Tabitha is a farmer of sheep for wool, a cameleer, a poultry enthusiast, winning many awards for her dashing chooks and geese, and the owner of an assortment of farm animals. She now works in Cybersecurity and Networks.
